This year has been dominated by a swag of natural disasters culminating most recently with Cyclone Oma and Bushfires in Western Australia. However, the ever present risk of cyber attacks continues. Here are three recently reported events. February 21, 2019 https://www.smh.com.au/business/companies/toyota-cyber-attack-leaves-employees-unable-to-access-emails-for-days-20190221-p50z70.html Car manufacturing giant Toyota has been hit by a cyber attack in Australia, with employees locked out of their emails for days. Local accountants Mitchell Wilson shared this warning with me just now that I thought important enough to share with other readers. I appreciate that I post so many warnings but this is in line with the huge volume of scams that are uncovered every day. Forewarned is forearmed. ============================================== We’d like to warn you of an email scan that’s being sent to Taxpayers this tax […]

This […]

I have heard that there have already been an average of 10 notifications a week but this figure was on social media and I have not been able to verify the number. I appreciate that we all have a duty to protect the personal data of our customers and employees but I […]
Business Interruption, cyber attacks, and natural catastrophes are, not surprisingly to us in the industry, the leading business risks this year, according to more than 1,900 risk experts from 80 countries polled for the latest Allianz Risk Barometer. The survey by Allianz Global Corporate and Specialty reveals that cyber attacks and business interruption remain the leading two risks in Australia. What remains disappointing is that […]
