Scams Awareness Week – 17 to 21 August 2020

Scamwatch which is operated by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) has seen a 55 per cent increase in reports involving loss of personal information this year compared with the same period in 2019. This involves over 24 000 reports and over $22 million in losses.

This is cruel when you consider the stress so many people are already under as a result of COVID-19 but just shows the lack of compassion, greed and criminality of some.

This week (17 to 21 August) is dedicated Scams Awareness Week.

Remember that there is insurance available but awareness and basic risk management is the first line of defence with insurance the last.

  1. Business and its workforce, as we know it, have changed – all of a sudden and all over the world. The COVID-19 virus has forced numerous people – from the executive level to the entry level of staff – to work from home, a major change in the environment that often comes with unforeseen and unusual challenges.
