Lord Atkin Exhibition – Supreme Court of Queensland
Lord Atkin, the Chief Justice of the House of Lords is famed for his decision in Donoghue v Stevenson UKHL 100, regarded by many as the most important case in the 800 years of the common law.
Not many people are aware, including Steve Manning and I until we started our research for our book on the case and its impact on society and general insurance, that he was born in Brisbane.
I learned through one of my friends and long time researcher in PolicyComparison.com, Peter Jenkins, that there is an exhibition being held at the moment in Brisbane on Lord Atkin which runs until 30 November 2018.
I plan on going myself on July 17, but sight unseen recommend anyone in Brisbane or visiting Brisbane to go along and learn more about this remarkable influential judge who has helped shaped today’s consumer movement.
To learn more about the exhibition, please visit https://legalheritage.sclqld.org.au/exhibitions/lordatkin
I will do a brief report on the exhibition after my visit.
If you cannot make the exhibition and would like to learn all about the case visit https://www.lmigroup.io/the-snail-in-the-ale/ to order a copy of the easy reading coffee table book on Donoghue v Stevenson.
