Doing the right thing
Over the past 12 months, we have seen the Royal Commission looking at both Banking and the Insurance Industries and identifying behaviour which confirms societies view of the Finance sector in that insurance is a vital part.
Of course, it is not just the insurance and finance sector which has been pulled into disrepute lately, with the hospital systems, particularly in Queensland, the construction industry with major problem buildings in Melbourne and Sydney, and most recently the Racing Industry with allegations of animal cruelty.
Of course, not everyone in these industries is dishonest, corrupt or inept. I personally know many honourable people in the insurance industry and are proud to call many of them my friends.
I received a note, which I reproduce below, from a client in Tasmania whose claim was originally denied. Through the tireless effort of our Tasmanian manager, Gary Price. The denial was completely overturned, and the valid claim paid in excess of $500,000. As you can imagine, the Insured who thought they had lost their home and could never rebuild are thrilled.
It makes me proud to be a part of this team in which Gary’s actions exemplify when it comes to protecting the vulnerable and the image of our great industry.
Wow, what a day this has been. A day I never thought I would see to be honest but remained hopeful.
I cannot thank you enough for your hard work and effort with this Gary. I am humbled to know and to have someone in my corner and who held my hand through this process. You do great work Gary, never forget that.
I have shed many happy tears today, and knowing that I can start to “live my life” is amazing. Don’t get me wrong. I always make the most of every day and live in the moment but knowing that I can finally move forward and put this behind me after the past few years is a very humbling and overwhelming experience.
