Congratulations & Thanks to the 2023 Mansfield Awards for Claims Excellence Finalists, Winners and Sponsors

Last evening the 7th Annual Mansfield Awards for Claims Excellence were held at a gala event at the Establishment in Sydney.

The judging of these awards takes a massive effort with 755 ratings for 242 insurer brands. It was pleasing to see that more of the claims ratings went up during the past 12 months than went down, a reversal of what occurred last year.

In fact, 114 ratings increased while only 73 went down. The maximum increase was 1.5 stars and the biggest drop was 1 full star.

The full list will be available this morning on ClaimsComparison.com.

Following this work, the finalists and winners of this year’s Mansfield Awards were determined. These I am pleased to list below:

Thank You

My personal thanks to our wonderful and generous sponsors, Steadfast Claims Solutions and icare. Both have been with the Mansfield’s since their inception.

The Mansfield’s remain a not for profit event with the proceeds going to the Amal Mulia Orphanage in Bengkulu, Sumatra, a stones throw from Fort Marlborough, the site of the claim that gave rise to Lord Mansfield’s seminal decision, giving rise to the principle that Utmost Good Faith by all parties to the contract in insurance is necessary for insurance to work.

My thanks also to our wonderful and passionate guest speaker, Michelle Forrest from QBE Insurance (Australia) Limited and our Master of Ceremonies, Nathan Strempel, both of whom volunteered their time.

Dedication

This year’s awards were dedicated to Greg Pynt, a former key note speaker at the Mansfield’s, and a true friend of the awards, the orphanage, and general insurance, and most importantly of all a champion of the principle of Utmost Good Faith. His passing was a huge shock and a cause of much sadness. Our condolences to his family and friends.

Final Comment

From the very start of the Mansfield’s we have been under pressure to expand the awards to others in the claims arena. This pressure has only increased year on year. We are now carefully considering this and I would ask you to keep a look out for more on this in the near future.
