Cladding on Residential Buildings

Cladding on Residential Buildings

Corollary to the recent article I posted on non-confirming cladding, an LMI Staff member informed me that they had friends who hold a unit in a block of units which was clad in combustible material.

The unanimous decision of the unit holders was to have the material immediately removed from the building. As yet, they have not yet replaced the cladding, while engineers are consulted, costings obtained etc to explore safe alternatives, however the risk caused by the cladding has been removed.

I congratulate the unit holders and there are other displays of this happening, as well as councils taking action, however I cannot understand why more aren’t taking the same action, but putting their lives or the lives of their tenant’s at risk by not following suit.

A very smart move by them to remove the non-conforming cladding. We have a cost effective alternative for this cladding that is manufactured in Australia and is made from 100% steel and therefore complies with all the relevant codes. Is it possible to give details of the building so we can offer them this alternative?
