Corollary to the earlier post on denied claim

Further to my post earlier this week about the Corporate Travel insurance claim that was not honoured, I learned from the broker following my post that he has cancelled all the policies he had with that travel insurer including a scheme for a professional body.

As the claim was in fact insured by two policies, the amount that this insurer would have had to contribute if it had been handled the way I believe it ought to have been their contribution would have been circa $6,500. As a result of the denial the cost of managing the claim has been significant and they have lost a business and destroyed a relationship with up until recently a big supporting broker.

They are yet to have to respond to the complaint that is to be filed with the regulator.

The question has to be, was the denial worth it? I think NOT.

Interesting to see your article states, ”
“I learned from the broker following my post that he has cancelled all the policies he had with that travel insurer including a scheme for a professional body.”

I hope the broker is acting on instructions from his clients.

As I understand it he explained what had happened to his customers and recommended the change but only where no trip was planned and paid for. He did not want to get caught again.
