Follow up post on spray insulation
Last week I posted an article (http://www.allanmanning.com/solving-one-problem-can-create-an-insurance-nightmare/) on the unintended problems caused by spraying a foam insulation over an iron on steel frame.
I thought I would share a bit more that I have learned. The cost of the foam insulation, labour and materials was $15,000. The cost to sprinkler the building which we do not think will solve the problem has been quoted at $288,000. The cost to remove the material so that the building’s original fire rating is returned for insurance purposes is yet to be determined as the engineers struggle to work out how to do it. I suspect the engineers will be charging more than the original cost.
I foresee a legal action against the supplier coming on.
